How Kumar deals with the foes is crux of the story. He weighs heavy, but the efforts he put in for fights are really far-fetched. Though Mohanlal is known for doing concept-based films, he tried commercial film with Manyam Puli and he fit the bill perfectly. There are several heroism elevation sequences and Mohanlal appeared like a real tiger is ready to hunt. He was equally splendid in emotional sequences too. Kamalini Mukherjee played the role of Mohanlal’s wife credibly.

Nonetheless, Peter Heins master composed fights are best part of the film. The tiger was a CG model, but looked like a real animal.

The movie’s protagonist ‘Puli’, is a proverbial saviour for his villagers as he kills man-eaters that saunter into their territory. That plotline makes for several hunting sequences with tigers.
